Rob Kall over at OpEdNews claims that Cindy Sheehan wrote, in an email exchange with him, that she walked into her hotel room in Denver to discover a guy with a screw driver in one hand and her hotel room phone in the other.
I saw this video on YouTube, it got sent to me through The Tubes on MySpace, it's pretty amazing. This guy seems to embody all of the wingnuts who we see comments from on Internet boards (other than this one). I didn't think they were real people, because you never see them in real life, or at least I don't living in Manhattan. This video will show you why they are better off staying in their anonymous posting bunkers - this guy gets absolutely pwned, not so much by Sheehan, but by the vets at the event...
Get your popcorn out and enjoy the carnage below the fold...
The purity patrol thinks that they have all the answers. The purity patrol thinks that if only we would elect Cindy Sheehan to Congress, then all our problems would be solved and our elected officials would bow down before the trumpets of Jericho. Never mind that in order to oppose rulebreaking by our elected officials, they break the rules of this site themselves. Never mind that Cindy Sheehan would abolish the IRS and the Federal Reserve, which makes all of her positions on the issues little more than pipe dreams.
For those of us who are eager to defend the Constitution by sending a message to Nancy Pelosi, Queen of Cowardly Capitulation, there comes the news that Bush Fighter and Peace Mom Cindy Sheehan is on the ballot as an Independent candidate for Pelosi's House seat. She is only the sixth Independent candidate ever to be listed on a California election ballot.
No-one wants Democrats in Congress more than I do, but it does us no good to have the Majority if we have dismal Leadership like Pelosi.
I'll try to keep from over-expressing my convoluted disappointment about John Edwards today. The breadth of my feelings have been well expressed by others.
But what's with Cindy Sheehan?! The post on her behalf yesterday that she has been making a last-minute effort to submit sufficient signatures to put her on the ballot by the deadline this afternoon.
Randi Rhodes spoke with a caller on her show this today who wanted to encourage people to go sign for Cindy - Randi clearly felt that this guy worked for the campaign, and although he didn't quite admit to that, it sure sounded that he did. I have nothing against someone calling from the campaign, but I do expect people to be open about it.
Randi went on to say that she caught wind that Cindy (with whom she had been close back in the Camp Casey days) was not on the ballot, and her staff called Cindy's campaign a couple weeks ago to learn the scoop and were surprised to learn that their signature-gathering wasn't - well, I don't want to put words in her mouth, but clearly wasn't as far as it is now.
If you're mad as hell about the Capitulation Congress and Nancy Pelosi's spineless leadership, and you want to do something about it, tonight is your chance.
As you may have heard, Cindy Sheehan is running against Nancy Pelosi for her San Francisco congressional seat, and she's facing an Aug. 8 deadline to collect an additional 2,000 signatures to get on the ballot. But you don't have to be in California's 8th congressional district to help.
At least last week's "this is not an impeachment" hearing in the House Judiciary Committee did something real. It proved that any so called "Progressive" who remains a member of the Democratic Party is part of the problem, not the solution.
For some progressives, the lack of enthusiasm for a Church-style committee emerges from the certain knowledge no conceivable Congressional probe will ever take a gander at the machinations of bipartisan American empire, so why urge any poking around at all? From such a perspective, any investigation will simply be an elaborate pretense run by Democrats and Republicans to lull Americans into thinking something is actually being achieved even as the corporatist elite continue their plunder and rapine as usual.
This kind of thinking denies that any good information came out of the flawed Watergate, Church Committee or Iran-contra investigations.
No doubt chances are slim to none for prosecuting the Cheney-Bush crew as well as for passing relevant reforms designed to shield citizens from the outlawry of future leaders. But slim is always better than none. Without a Congressional investigation, there’s no chance at all. How can progressives reconcile themselves to that?
Nietzsche laid out a full-fledged assault on the basis of fundamentalism and called for the reevaluation of everything that we would think of as moral and right. And a similar reevaluation is totally called for thanks to eight years of abuse of power by the Bush administration, the cumulation of forces interested only in appropriating wealth and power to themselves at the expense of the common person.
You can have Billy Boy Kristol. But I'm sure he'll throw himself on the floor and have a tantrum and refuse to go.
Billy Boy seems to be sporting a brand new, more august-looking photo in his latest Op-Ed for the New York Times, in which he whines about Move-On again.

I am a Barack Obama supporter. Once enthusiastically, now a bit less so. I am willing to let the politics of this play out this week and see where things stand in the Senate before writing Obama off. Aside from waiting though, I want to do something on this issue. I live in Oregon my House member David Wu voted against this legislation and I know my Democratic Senator stands opposed so there is nothing to be done here.
I got to thinking, how can I make a difference? How can I sway Obama to see reason and not support sacrificing any of my RIGHTS and LIBERTIES any furher? I have written emails, letters and made phone calls to all the staff I have access to on the campaign (not many). I want to do more.
It occurred to me that the longest running story of this campaign has been Obama's fundraising prowess online. How can we voice our displeasure, maybe sway his vote on FISA? Give money to Ralph Nader. That will get Obama's attention, heck, maybe even Pelosi would notice:
UPDATE HERE: Somebody actually came up with a better idea than money to Nader:
Happy first day of summer! I love summer; you won't hear me complain too much about heat because I despise winter and being cold.
And, the chosen color choice for the Friends of Olbermann shirts is [insert drum roll here]...purple and white in honor of those infamous purple ties that are such the hot topic when they're worn! Thanks to everyone who voted. Tonight's poll will decide which number will be assigned to the jersey we will make for and send to Keith. Whether or not he wears it is entirely up to him! ;) So, don't forget to vote.
And, now, here we go with tonight's Countdown diary!
**UPDATED TO FALL IN LINE WITH THE RULES**
I removed the offending link to Sheehan's site. Now, I believe this diary is simply newsworthy as it states a rival candidate's views. Am I "safe" now?
Last night, after hearing about Pelosi's capitulation on FISA, I got angry. Angry that I supported her and gave her the benefit of the doubt back when she took impeachment off the table. Angry that she once again gave Bush cover for his crimes. I had enough.
Last night I donated to the Cindy Sheehan campaign.
Today I received a message from Cindy Sheehan's campaign:
The FISA "compromise" that the House voted on today was a disgrace. We all know this. The idea that Steny Hoyer and Nancy Pelosi put such a horrible bill in front of Congress shows just how bad our government is. I want to show Pelosi just how upset I am. I made the phone call but feel I need to do more. I now have the answer.
The heights by great men reached and kept
Were not attained by sudden flight,
But they, while their companions slept,
Toiled ever upward through the night." ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Peace comes upon us without much fanfare. Most await an announcement or seek a moment of resolve. However, the message never comes. In this country, in our local communities, and perchance planet wide, a small number of people acknowledge goodwill is not created in an instant. It grows. The transition from warfare to common welfare is invisible. Tranquility enters; and no one stands triumphantly.
Torture is the tool of those who have power but no moral authority. Today America is run by people who think torture makes sense.
I have a problem . I just cannot help myself from arguing with those who support or condone its use. And lately I have been arguing a lot about this ugly reality. Eventually I disconnect from these people.
Torture is a defining issue to me. I do not want to have anything to do with people who torture. I don’t want them to come to my home, I don’t want to talk to them in social settings, I don’t want to work with them, I don’t want them in police stations or in the Pentagon and I don’t want them in the White House or Congress.
So, as of today, where do the presidential contenders stand on torture? Which one gives me the most hope that the creeping cancer of torture will be contained and eradicated, which one will shut down Guantanamo faster, which one will most probably bring to justice those who have committed this crime, which one will set America on the path to reclaim some degree of the moral authority to play any leadership role in global politics?
