Freep This Poll!!

Fri Aug 08, 2008 at 11:25:20 AM PDT

Please Rec this diary.

We've had a running battle for the last couple of hours with some other freepers (RedStaters?) Bad Dad started an effort to freep a poll at AOL that showed McCain in the lead at 100% of the States.

Even though we all know that's total BS, it could ultimately have some impact if we let it stand. We've been playing Whack a Mole with these Right Wing freepers but the previous diary just did not get enough attention to have an impact.

Fabulous Freeper Update (Vote again today!)(Shameless Pimping for a Good Cause)

Wed Aug 06, 2008 at 09:13:35 AM PDT

Good morning peeps!

Yesterday I published a link to Steve Pearce's website.  For those of you who don't know, Steve Pearce is the idiot who gave up a safe republican congressional seat to take on one of New Mexico's most popular and respected sons, Tom Udall, for the US Senate.  Most of the polls show Tom winning by 25-28%.  It's going to be a wild west ass kicking, kids.

Freep This Poll: Who Went Negative First?

Fri Aug 01, 2008 at 07:19:05 AM PDT

Kind of odd that USA Today is running a "You Vote: Who Put Out The First 'Negative' Ad" poll alongside a pretty clear timeline showing it definitely wasn't Obama.

McCain's "Dr. No" web ad came out on June 25th. The RNC's "Balance" ad came out on July 7th, and Obama's reponse ad "New Energy" came out the next day. And yet 30% of the people who've responded to the USA Today poll so far either believed Obama went negative first or said "They're Equally To Blame." Just goes to show the stubbornnes of that 30% of Americans who still approve of Bush's job as President.

Unfortunately for us, that stubborn 30% is probably quite likely to vote in November. And while McCain's "Celeb" spot is easily the most tasteless ad released so far this cycle, things are bound to get far more negative. As good as the polls are looking so far, we've definitely got our work cut out for us if we want a Democrat in the White House next January.

ACTION NEEDED: Dailykos is being Freeped in Time poll! Part 2

Wed Apr 09, 2008 at 10:57:55 AM PDT

Kossacks, we need your help.  (I apologize about the loud title).
Yesterday I posted a diary about a blog poll at Time online.  Dailykos was being freeped by someone and had only a 6 out of 10 rating.  We pushed it up to 7 out of 10 and seventh on the list out of 25.  However, it has fallen back to 6 out of 10 and number fifteen on the list.

Sitting at the top spot with 4772 16,720 (changed from last night) votes and an eight out of 10 rating is the derisive conservative site Ace of Spades HQ.  Ace of Spades recently got its 10 millionth hit being online since 2006.  Dailykos does that in about two weeks.  So how is it that a second tier blog gets the top spot at Time?  A couple of well-designed freep campaigns.

Dailykos is being Freeped in Time poll!

Tue Apr 08, 2008 at 02:05:05 PM PDT

Over at Time, they're doing a blog poll.  Currently, conservative blog Ace of Spades is at the top of the list with a ranking of 8 out of 10.  Meanwhile, Daily Kos sits at number 14 out of 25 with a rating of about 6.  With 3874 votes, they've got a lot more than we do, so obviously they've organized some kind of effort to  get the vote out.  DailyKos has only 1461.  We all know Dems are doing a much better job this year to get the vote out, so let's get over there and show the love for DailyKos!

UPDATE: I'm changing the links to avoid tracking by Time.  To spoof the tracking system:

  1. Open a new browser window
  1. Cut and paste the links below.

UDPATE2: DailyKos is moving up!  It's now number 7 in the poll with a rating of 7 and 1930 votes.  Ace of Spades now has 4400 votes.  I hope most of the new ones are negative...

Smurf this pole!!1 [updated]

Fri Apr 04, 2008 at 11:39:33 AM PDT

The Lansing State Urinal Journal (the daily newspaper of Michigan's capitol city) has a poll between McShame and Obama.  My guess is, the paper is trying to determine if he really is "Unelectable"

Daily news poll

The Democratic presidential nominee has not yet been selected. But, if the choice for president were between these two candidates, who would get your vote?

It currently stands at 50/50.  This is one paper most assuredly read by the Legistlators and Supers.

(scroll to bottom of page)

Now stands at 54/46

Chinese Freep Poll? with Poll

Tue Mar 25, 2008 at 07:35:24 AM PDT

Last night a CNN poll asked whether the Beijing Olympics should be boycotted (on account of Chinese actions (atrocities) in Tibet). At one point yesterday the vote was about 63-37 in favor of a boycott. That was a number that frankly surprised me. This morning the numbers are 51-49 against a boycott.
It appears that the Chinese have learned to Freep polls. LOL!
One would have to posit a huge preponderance of anti-boycotters
voting after 8 pm to create this huge swing. From a statistical point of view this is nigh impossible. It would mean an almost 80-20 split starting in the mid evening.

Please see poll.

Freep CNN poll on Obama's pastor

Sun Mar 16, 2008 at 09:44:25 AM PDT

CNN is currently running one of their online polls.  The question is: "Is Obama doing enough to distance himself from his controversial pastor?"  "NO" is head 53%-47%.  Go and freep that baby.

Don't smurf these polls (March 2008)

Mon Mar 03, 2008 at 09:37:13 AM PDT

Don't smurf polls at these sites.  There's a better way.

It's important that certain Internet polls be smurfed.  I wrote a letter to my newly widowed 92-year-old mother explaining how, for example, smurfing them can be used in the struggle against racism.

There are other reasons, too, mostly concerned with shifting high morale levels from the bad guys to the good guys.

There are easy ways to do this, but I need your help.  More below the fold.

Use facebook? Freep their Election for Prez!

Fri Nov 16, 2007 at 10:21:46 AM PDT

Online polls don't matter.  They're unscientific and unreliable.  Yet, they are entertaining, and somehow most people can't resist voting in them.

So, here's yet another one: Facebook's Election '08 app.

Why is this one so important to freep?  I'll tell you below the fold.

Pelosi: 10,000 letters = Impeach!

Wed Nov 14, 2007 at 10:39:55 AM PDT

To get Cheney's impeachment back on the table. If Nancy Pelosi receives 10,000 hand written letters, according to this story, she will move to put it back where it belongs. Urban legend?
I do not know. It's a small amount of effort on our part. Where did I put that stationary with little chickadees on it?

Why You Shouldn't Believe Those CNN/Fox News Show Polls:

Sat Nov 10, 2007 at 07:53:40 AM PDT

Or, what I do when I get up at 5 am and can't get back to sleep-

I probably shouldn't be writing this. I wish I could just keep this all a secret. But I can't. I have to tell this story. Not because I am concerned about the public discourse, and the integrity of political process, but because it's just so god damned funny.

One day last week I woke up at 5am. Don't ask me why. There was no good reason. I don't have to be at work on most days until 9, and its only a 45 min drive when it's not raining, and it wasn't raining that day. Point is, there was no reason to be up at 5am. But I was, and once I was, there was no falling back asleep. So, I put on CNN. I'm a news junkie. I can change, I promise. If I marry someone who isn't , I will probably be sneaking off to watch the news in the basement when no ones looking. Like a porn addict. But instead of Debbie Does Dallas, I'd be watching Countdown with Keith Obermann (Anthony, are you ok down there? Yes, honey). I'd actually prefer to marry someone who knows who Keith Olbermann is and wants to watch him with me, but that's another story... anyway...

buy wine and change the world. (edit)

Tue Oct 23, 2007 at 01:03:40 PM PDT

A little while ago, I wrote a largely ignored diary about my friend Jake. You can read the full story here:

http://www.dailykos.com/...

Basically, Jake started a political consulting company with a friend and it did really well during the last election cycle. Unfortunately, Jake left the company when he found out his friend (the "owner") was donating corporate money to Mitt Romney. Yah, I was pretty fucking proud of him, too.
