An Obama Presidency: 10 Positives
Mon Jul 07, 2008 at 03:02:39 PM PDT
This is not the 'Top 10' necessarily, or even the best 10.
But it's 10 more than John McCain will bring.
So looking past for a moment the hysterics Obama has thrust upon many via his "move to the center," take heed:
I Love McCain and Here is Why
Fri May 30, 2008 at 08:31:58 PM PDT
I love McCain because he, like his Hero George W. Bush, is fantasy-based.
I love McCain because he allows Obama to appear the grown-up, the one with the mature grasp of Iraq (and Iran).
I love McCain because he is going to get the shit kicked out of him by Obama this fall, and the nation is going to rejoice vehemently.
I'm Very Disappointed with Obama
Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 07:48:11 PM PDT
Obama is going to go on the news channel that hates him, hates his political party, hates his ideas, lies about him with impunity, takes racist jabs at him (and his pastor) constantly, and who's primary reason for existing is to destroy the Democratic party...

Chris Matthews' First Daily Kos Diary

(Note: All ensuing quotes are taken from this link).
Hello gang. HA!
My friend wyvern is allowing me to use his account to write my first Daily Kos diary.
Like any adroit journalist, I've read up on your Frequently Asked Questions and things of that nature.
I notice there are punishments in place here for posters that are "trolls."
That trolls are "troll-rated" by the community, as eventually their trollish comments end up in a dark and foreboding realm called "hidden comments." And that whole thing about "troll diaries" and such....gotcha.
The Republican Victimization Scam
Thu Jan 17, 2008 at 01:41:46 PM PDT
Privileged people passing themselves off as victims is very nauseating to witness.
Yet every election cycle (and even in non-election cycles) this is what we get from Republicans.
You don't agree with a Republican? Then you are not only wrong, you are, by not agreeing with the Republican, purposely persecuting the Republican. (Perhaps this is why they are given to screaming fits when "debating" someone possessing an opposite view. Because they feel the opposing viewpoint is literally hurting them). Here's an example...
http://www.newshounds.us/...
It's like Glenn Greenwald said (paraphrased): "Neocons never err: They are just the victims of other people's shortcomings."
That sums it up (and what I am trying to articulate) beautifully.
Even upon casual examination, 'tis clear posing as a victim is fundamental to modern-day conservatism.
New Hampshire's Taboo Topic
Sat Jan 05, 2008 at 11:46:55 AM PDT
No matter your political affiliation, chances are you will not hear one topic discussed in New Hampshire this weekend: The cost of the Iraq occupation and how to pay for it.
Bringing up that topic will cast a very dark and foreboding pall over "Changefest 2008."
Besides, any candidate, whether Democrat, Republican or Independent, will be forced to lie to you if you dare confront him/her on this topic. Why?
Because the Iraq atrocity is costing us $275 million per day. Do the math on how much that is a week, month, year.
http://www.nationalpriorities.org/...
There is no monetary system known to man that can adequately deal with paying off these virtually infinite sums of money. Raising taxes to pay it off, for example, will barely chip away at the tip of the iceberg.
Why the Punditocracy Ignores Global Warming
Mon Dec 24, 2007 at 12:25:30 PM PDT
I saw this and have to get my 2 cents in.
Leaving aside the shallowness, stupidity, Side Show Bob aspect of today's Punditocracy...taking all those things into consideration, there is still no logical reason for a network hack to pretend global warming is not a pertinent campaign issue.
We realize you can't bomb global warming into submission, or claim victory over global warming after we have invaded the wrong global warming headquarters. We are cognizant of the fact global warming doesn't yet frighten enough people to the extent the Republicans have assimilated it into their Fear & Dread political platform. We realize global warming is too abstract a concept to be labeled a hate America phenomenon, encroaching devilry only George Bush can protect us from. We are aware global warming hasn't made its way into the mainstream consciousness to the extent the Republicans can adapt it as a wedge issue, therrby claiming those that do (or do not) believe in global warming are terrorist sympathizers out to subvert our democracy. Still. It needs to be asked about.
As a Democrat, I am Invested in Us Losing in Iraq
Mon Nov 19, 2007 at 11:43:28 AM PDT
I am a Democrat.
And I am invested in us losing in Iraq.
http://mediamatters.org/...
It will make me a better Democrat if we lose in Iraq for one.
I definitely want us to lose in Iraq so I can talk smack to my Republican friends.
I can high-five my hippies in front of football coaches if we lose in Iraq.
It Could've Been Daily Kos Being Debated In Congress Today
Thu Sep 20, 2007 at 03:33:05 PM PDT
Has it occurred to anybody else this anti-moveon.org bullshit could have just as easily been aimed at Daily Kos?
Keep in mind, BillO did his wingnut damnest to make that happen (and, from what we've seen today, Fox Noise does indeed directly influence congressional legislation in our country).
Unleash Your Inner Michael Chertoff
Thu Sep 13, 2007 at 10:07:47 PM PDT
Upon surfing Rudy Giuliani's blog, in a comments section, I noticed somebody was bragging about having graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a "Homeland Security" major.
http://www.mtv.com/...
Maybe you were aware America currently has a university offering a major in Homeland Security, but I was not aware of it.
Well. I Hear We are Kicking Ass in Iraq

Log Cabin Republicans vs. the Radical Right
Sun Sep 02, 2007 at 08:42:29 PM PDT
As is common knowledge, conjuring fear and hatred of gays is a fundamental ploy the Republican party uses to win elections. (Unfortunately, nothing drives a certain segment of America to the voting booths like a competently orchestrated "queer scare").
So that's why I have always found it fascinating that there are gay Republicans organized and ready to fight the good fight for (?)..."Log Cabin Republicans" they call themselves.
"America is the greatest country on Earth?" Bullsh*t.
Thu Aug 30, 2007 at 09:25:51 PM PDT
The time-honored slogan, "America is the greatest country on Earth"...
...well, it's time to call bullshit on that.
The "greatest country on Earth" does not possess a citizenry and governing body that remains idle & complaint...even supportive...when wicked men lead it to ruin.
Word to Elected Officials: Treat Sept. 11, 2007 with Respect
Thu May 24, 2007 at 11:08:52 PM PDT
We are aware some elected officials read Daily Kos (or at least use it to write articles/diaries).
So, Madame and Sir, please take heed:
September has been recently ordained by you, our great leaders, as "the month."
The literal last in a long series of Friedman Units...or so we've been promised.
Murtha even, as of right now, has a post on Huffington Post chatting up the grave importance of September (I am not going to link it because, without reading it, I already know what it says via the talking points).
Please 86 This Talking Point
Fri May 18, 2007 at 12:16:42 AM PDT
"If we leave Iraq, it will be a disaster."
Big wingnut talking point to this day, to this minute.
Bush said it in August, 2006 http://www.breakingnewsagency.com/... and, of course, he still believes it as of this moment. Of course, Bush is not the only warmonger neocon to say it, or believe it. You can easily Google up that cabal in a few seconds.
"Party of Bush" and Other Musings
Fri Mar 23, 2007 at 11:01:45 PM PDT
I am inspired to write this diary after reading Cenk Uygur's great article on Huffington Post http://www.huffingtonpost.com/...
It's about how Bush is destroying the Republican party.
"Beltway Boys" Have a Take on Edwards
Sat Mar 10, 2007 at 10:15:12 PM PDT
On Tuesday, March 6, I made a comment under a kos diary "Edwards to skip Fox News debate." I was half snark and half serious with that comment, because I knew the wingnut gasbags would go after Edwards bigtime after he publicly dissed their John Birch Society Ground Zero a.k.a., Fox Noise.
My comment was thus:
